AUSTRALIAN RED CEDAR (Toona Ciliata)
A large deciduous tree native to eastern Australia, Papua New Guinea and India. Very scarce, red cedar is no longer a commercially sold timber. The heartwood ranges from pale pink to a dark deep red. It has a course texture and can sometimes display a fiddleback figure.

COOLABAH (Eucalyptus coolabah)
Found throughout Australia, tolerating arid, coastal and floodplain conditions. Coolabah is a hard and dense timber, the heartwood is dark brown, containing white vessels, while the sapwood is narrow with a whitish colour.
RIVER RED GUM (Eucalyptus camaldulensis)
A familiar and iconic tree seen along river banks right across Australia. The heartwood is a distinctive red to reddish brown colour with the sapwood being notably paler. The grain is interlocked and frequently wavy which gives it a fiddleback figure. Red Gums can produce large dramatic burls consisting of dark red wood with black resin veins and pockets.
SILKY OAK (Grevillea robusta)
A native of eastern coastal Australia, Silky Oak is a fast growing valuable timber popular with woodworkers. A light straw colour featuring lacey distinctive figuring.
TEA TREE (Leptospermum lanigerum)
A shrub or small tree native to south east Australia and commonly found along the coast.The timber is brown to darkish brown, and can have figuring of darker streaks. Used as natural branches in Paul Buckland Woodcarvings.
WOOLLYBUTT (Eucalyptus delegatensis)
Woollybutt is a sub-alpine tree found in south eastern Australia. It is a fast growing, tall straight tree, capable of reaching heights of over 90 metres in the right conditions. A hard dense timber varying in colour from pale straw to soft brown and light pink, with a straight grain.
